SORTEDfood Tours the USA
When it comes to food, we’ve probably all experienced a few game changers – meals that have changed the way we previously thought about certain dishes.
Meet SORTEDfood, a group of friends from London who head up a global community of millions of food lovers and use their community’s local recommendations to explore the world, looking for exceptional food in exceptional places.
The Lost and Hungry Rules
When the Sorted guys first traveled to the USA in 2015, they decided they had to live by one rule: Don’t go anywhere or eat anything unless it had been recommended to them. Eventually, the guys evolved this rule into a full culinary travel philosophy, consisting of three main guidelines.
Rule 1: Always follow locals' recommendation
If people only used the top online search results to choose where to go and eat when they travel, everyone would go to the same places. The Sorted team use locals’ recommendations to find the best places to eat. After all, who knows the destination better than the people who live there? Sometimes the best food and most unforgettable stories are found in the most unlikely places.
Rule 2: Say “yes” (if safe!)
Experiencing new and unfamiliar cultures is all a part of traveling to new destinations, so the best way to open yourself to the possibility of these new experiences is to say “yes” when opportunities present themselves.
Rule 3: Pass it on
When traveling, it’s important to remember what a privilege it is to be welcomed by locals. The Sorted team are well aware of how lucky they are to have these amazing experiences, so whenever they travel to new places, they find local community projects and volunteer for a few hours. The Sorted team have stumbled upon some incredible individuals by doing this, and having the chance to help and shine a spotlight on their mission is a pleasure.
