Family Outing at Six Flags Great America

I have been to many amusement parks both in the UK and the U.S., but Six Flags Great America in Gurnee takes the biscuit when it comes to ultimate rides! Batman The Ride is the world’s first inverted, outside looping roller coaster.  Then you have Superman: Ultimate Flight, where you will soar head first through a twisted steel track! Next try The Dark Knight Coaster, a thrill ride with the entire trip in complete darkness. And then those with a need for speed can do Vertical Velocity. This ride gets to 112 km/h in less than four seconds – that is super-fast! Raging Bull is currently the tallest, fastest and largest roller coaster at Six Flags Great America, and in late spring 2014, a new thrill ride called Goliath is coming to Six Flags. Goliath will be the tallest, steepest and fastest wooden roller coaster in the world! Don’t be put off, though, if you are one of the less adventurous, or if you are bringing smaller kids to Six Flags Great America; they have plenty of family rides you can do that are just as fun.

All Weather Fun at KeyLime Cove

Next on your agenda should be KeyLime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort. This 65,000-square-foot water park feels and looks like paradise, with the interior decorated so that it seems like you are outdoors, but with temperatures kept at 29 degrees Celsius, it doesn’t matter what the outside weather is like. There are tube rides, water slides and a lazy river. You can go all out on the wild rides or simply relax poolside, and just like at Six Flags, there is plenty for the little ones to do. While family members are tiring themselves on the rides, you can head over to the Paradise Mist Spa for some relaxation. They offer massages, facials and body wraps. Even the kids can enjoy the spa where they can make their own scrubs and oils AND get a manicure just like mum! If that’s not your cup of tea, then the Riptide Reef Arcade could be the answer – there are hundreds of games there for all ages.

Gurnee Mills: A Family Shopping Affair!

I don’t usually consider going to a shopping mall something that the whole family will enjoy, but at Gurnee Mills, it really is! There are more than 200 shops and some really unique ones. But Gurnee Mills is not all about shopping. They have a huge indoor ice skating rink, a miniature golf course, laser tag and a great arcade. The food choices are good, and you can even finish off the day by catching a movie at the 20-screen complex. This is Illinois largest destination shopping mall!
