Wealth of adventures a short drive from the city
Cuyahoga Valley National Park comprises its own little oasis just a short drive southeast of Cleveland, Ohio. Overlooking Lake Erie, the park is home to the Ohio and Erie Towpath Trail, which follows part of the route of the 500-kilometer Ohio and Erie Canal.
If you only have a few hours to spend in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, you can hike or bike the Towpath Trail in one direction and take Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad back. The park also provides a wide variety of other outdoor activities, including canoeing, golfing, horseback riding and fishing. Just be sure to bring your binoculars: The park is also a hotspot for bird watching, with species like bald eagles, blue herons and peregrine falcons finding sanctuary in the forests.
